Dear Members

This summer we will introduce you to another kind of wine dinner. For the first time we will be proud to serve a unique Vin Jaune from Jura which will be paired with the equally unique Yellow Oil Crab.

Vin Jaune (French for “yellow wine”) is a special and characteristic type of white wine made in the Jura wine region in eastern France. It is similar to dry fino sherry. Vin Jaune shares many similarities with sherry, including some aromas, but unlike sherry it is not a fortified wine. Besides having the same colour and being a perfect match, both Vin Jaune and Yellow Oil Crab can only be found in very limited quantities.

This exceptional event will be held for one night only on August 5 in Chinese restaurant The Horizon. Our host for this evening will be Mr Frederic Lornet the winemaker and owner of the wine of the same name.

Also, please allow me to remind you that we will start the buffet counter renovation at The Deck on Monday, July 5. During the six-week renovation period we will still have a limited a la carte menu as well as the existing dessert buffet available on weekdays.

On weekends, in order to satisfy everyone’s appetite, we will also have a BBQ station at the outside Deck, some live cooking stations and cold salad buffet in the Private Deck.

Again thank you for your patience and understanding during this short transition period.
I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a fantastic and sunny summer especially for the lucky ones who are going on vacation!

Dear Members,

As the new marina manager of the Club, it gives me great pleasure to take this opportunity to introduce myself to you all.

In my new role as marina manager, I am responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Marina Department, including all berthing facilities, the boat maintenance workshop, the Club’s charter boat Marina Pearl and the speedboat. With a great deal of experience in the marine industry, I strive to serve you and berth-holders at the Club.

It just remains for me to say that I am very much looking forward to meeting you personally soon.

Best regards
Perry

Dear Members,

I am very excited about the appointment of our new S&R Operations Manager Miss Purdey Ngan. Purdey takes over from Ada, who has been promoted to Health Club Manager at Island Shangri-la. We will miss Ada and wish her every success in her new role.

Purdey has been part of our Activities team for two years, and she brings a great deal of energy and experience to the role. She comes from a dancing background and takes a lot of care with her healthy lifestyle. If you need some tips on healthy eating and living, she is the lady to see. Being a young mother of two, she has been giving us some great ideas and feedback on our children’s activities and facilities.

Purdey is easy to find. She is the lady walking around with the BIG SMILE on her face. Please join me in welcoming her to the new role.

Our Summer Camp brochures are now available at the Club or can be downloaded from this website. Make sure you book early for the Camps as they are filling up fast!
Stay healthy!
Andrew

Dear Members,

We have noticed that an increasing amount of members are ordering cakes from Marina Deli. Therefore, we have decided to create a proper cake brochure, which will be available for you starting this weekend in your favorite Deli. You will be able to have a clearer picture of all our top-selling cakes and the brochure will make the ordering process much smoother than before.

On June 22 we have a very special guest joining us for a memorable evening in The Dining Room – Mr Maurice Hennessy from the prominent French Cognac House of the same name. Mr Hennessy will be introducing his rarest and finest production paired with a special menu for this unique occasion.

Due to the ongoing popularity of The Deck buffet and to offer you a wider food selection, the buffet will go through some renovation for a six-week period from the first week of July until mid August.

Once completed the buffet, there will have additional stations such as tempura, teppanyaki and Chinese barbecue. You will be able to enjoy a new sushi and sashimi display as well as a larger hot food section.

The Deck will remain open during the entire renovation period.

As I always like to remind everyone, there’s always something happening in the Food & Beverage outlets at your Club!

Dear Member

Summer is approaching and you may have started planning for a family trip or signed up for different activities for your children to enjoy the long holidays.

On the home page of the Club’s website, you may notice that we have added a section for the IT Centre to update you with the latest news of what is happening there. Since the IT Centre was launched in early May, we have received a good response from members, especially for the June training classes, and one of the classes is already full.

With popular demand, we will roll out kids’ summer classes before mid June and Intermediate classes on several popular topics such as photography and Mac use.

We welcome your ideas on topics so that we can introduce more popular classes to suit your needs.

Yours sincerely

Matty
